The Economy
The Super-Rich, get richer...
The United States Government has spent billions and billions of taxpayer dollars trying to stabilize the current economy. Have you ever questioned what factors destabilized the economy in the first place? If you listen to the mainstream media, everything is our fault. The greedy people on Main Street are responsible for the entire mess! The little Main Street man borrowed too much, overspent and saved too little.
Do not buy into this propaganda. The media actively pushes the position that the 'greedy homeowners' or 'credit crazed shoppers' are responsible. We the public, looking for someone to blame, digest this information wholeheartedly. If the nightly news reports it as fact, it must be true, right? The next thing you know we are pointing fingers at our 'greedy' neighbors instead of prosecuting people on Wall Street or running Congressmen off Capitol Hill.
While we are distracted blaming each other, the rich get richer.
Have you noticed that not one captain of finance has been prosecuted for creating fraudulent investment vehicles? These captains of finance, the brightest minds of Wall Street, created investment packages they knew to be defective, financial time bombs. These time bombs of financial fraud exploded and nearly sank our entire economy.
How were these captains of finance punished for outright fraud? The same way all executives on Wall Street are 'punished' with multi-million dollar bonuses and golden severance agreements. Even while receiving taxpayer bailout money these financial institutions, the ones that created this mess, rewarded themselves with large bonuses. They flaunted their greed in our face and we did nothing.
When we finally woke a little and realized the massive fraud that was going on, the media stepped in once again to protect corporate greed. The media and government informed us, 'these corporations have contracts that must be upheld'. While the corporate financial wizards were getting richer, labor contracts were being nullified. It appears contractual agreements only apply to the wealthy.
Once again, while we are distracted, the rich get richer.
As a Member of Congress, I will make every effort to expose the corporate/governmental fraud to the American people.
As your Congressman, I will be one honest voice you can turn to for the unvarnished truth.
